CEC Incentives
Since 1996, the California Energy Commission (CEC) has been sponsoring the Emerging Renewables Buydown Program. This program offers cash rebates to California home and business owners who invest in renewable energy systems.
The Commission recently approved rebates ranging from $2.60 per watt to $4 per watt, or 50 percent off the system purchase price (whichever is less), making it even more affordable to generate your own electricity using solar power.

LADWP Incentives
In August of 2006, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) initiated an incentive program to help promote solar power and decrease our dependence upon scarce and environmentally harmful energy resources by making solar systems more affordable to Los Angeles residents. The incentive funds dramatically defer the purchase price of eligible solar rooftop systems by about 50%. Any home or business owner who is an LADWP customer may participate. A special incentive of up to $4.50 per watt is offered for solar systems manufactured in the city of Los Angeles. Exact rebates need to be determined by on-site visit. Solar rebates are also available through Southern California Edison, Glendale Water & Power, and Pasadena Water & Power.
